Early Years on a Shoestring

Each month I receive approximately seven EYs catalogues packed full of gorgeous, ‘must-have’ resources to choose from. While some of it is undeniably gorgeous, who has the money for any of it? Furthermore, who wants to spend the precious money we do have on such resources when we all know that within a week, parts will be lost, someone will have written their name on it because ‘you told me to practice writing my name’, or it will have gone home in a pocket because ‘I thought it was mine.’ Am I right?

What if I told you, you could have a well-resourced classroom on a shoestring?

What if I also told you that those resources would foster the children’s imagination and communication skills in ways you couldn’t imagine?

It’s true.

All the photos are from my classroom, and ideas and suggestions tried and tested. You don’t need expensive resources to make the world go round, and like my cat, children really do like to hide in boxes.

So sit back, relax, and save your budget for the game-changers.
